Until you find the brightest, twinkling, dazzling star
That's the one, you long to see,
That's your beautiful Emily.
Ever so brightly, she shines every night,
Dancing in place awaiting your sight.
No matter what path your life takes you in,
Your star of Emily shines again and again.

Remember her eyes,
Remember her scent,
Remember the way she laughed with you.
Remember her hair,
Remember her touch,
Remember the way she smiled at you.
Remember her spirit,
Remember her heart,
Remember the way she loved you.
Remember her proudly,
Remember her gently,
Remember her always,
Your Lovely Emily.

A Word Picture: Emi’s Place
The Emily Grace Deem Memorial Park
It is a summer weekend. That means that baseball is in full swing! Listen to the fans. Hear the chants of the players. Smell that ballpark grass. Smell the scents wafting from the nearby snack vendor. The players are having fun, but that is not what you’re here for. You are here for the park next to the baseball field.
Close your eyes. What do you see? Nothing? Good. Now, picture a park. Not a water park or an amusement park, or even the baseball park. Just picture a regular old park. You are about to walk in. You see a fence; a raw, unpainted fence. Now, picture the slide complex. It is straight in front of you. Its’ colors are so bright and fun. There are reds and greens and purples and oranges and more. In fact, the kids call it “Skittleland”. Children are running up its’ stairs and riding down its’ slides. Yells and screams of joy are coming from it. Kids are having a lot of fun. You can already see that this is no “regular old park”.
Surrounding Skittleland is brown mulch. Bend down and sniff in the woody scent. Can you smell it? Look to your left. You see a swing set. A pink swing set, suitable for four. There are kids rocking back and forth; giggling, and having so much fun. Turn to your right. You see a green turtle, a couple of feet tall at the head. Kids are sitting on it. They are getting their picture taken with Slider. They too are enjoying it.
You turn back to your original position. Walk forward a little. The pavement you are walking on forks around Skittleland. You turn left. You see two green sandboxes. They are shaped like turtles; filled with blue and purple sand. There are so many toys and so many kids to play with them. Molding the sand, they too are laughing with their friends. Keep walking forward, towards the very back of the park.
Behind Skittleland, you see flowers; lots of flowers. There are all kinds of flowers and trees and other plants. Planted here are not just flowers, but memories; memories of someone who was the inspiration for the park. Memories of fun times and friendships are planted here. That is why Emi’s Place means a lot to my community and me.

Like the gentle, unseen breeze
The presence of those loved and lost.
Remains with us always
Remember and Believe
"A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam.
And for a brief moment its glory and beauty belong to our world.
